L'importance des tissus sur notre peau

The importance of tissues on our skin

Have you ever noticed how some clothes can make you feel like you're floating on a cloud, while others can make you cringe?

The fabrics we choose to wear have a real impact on our skin, our comfort and the environment!

Why choose organic fabric?

Our clothing acts as a protective barrier, protecting us from external elements, UV rays and even irritation. Natural fabrics provide comfort for the skin, being generally softer and pleasant to the touch than synthetic materials. This feeling of well-being is particularly appreciated by people with sensitive skin or prone to allergies. Natural textiles such as cotton, linen or silk allow the skin to breathe, thus avoiding allergic reactions often associated with artificial fibers.

In contrast, synthetic fabrics, although often less expensive, can sometimes be less beneficial for our skin. Polyester, for example, tends to retain heat and moisture, which can promote skin irritation and allergies. Synthetic fabrics contribute also to pollution by microfibers during washing, releasing plastic particles into the water, thus polluting the oceans.

What are the types of biological tissues?

Organic Cotton : Grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, organic cotton is skin-friendly and environmentally friendly.

Organic Linen : Organic linen is made from flax fibers grown without chemicals. It is durable, breathable and offers a naturally wrinkled appearance.

Organic Hemp : Organic hemp is made from hemp fibers grown without chemicals. It is sturdy, durable and mildew resistant.

Organic Silk : Organic silk is produced from silkworms raised in organic conditions, without the use of harmful chemicals.

Organic wool : Organic wool comes from sheep raised on organic farms, where no pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used.

Organic Bamboo : Made from bamboo fibers grown without chemicals, bamboo fabric is soft, breathable and hypoallergenic.

Tencel : Although technically a semi-synthetic fiber, Tencel is made from wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests. It is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

Modal : Modal is a fiber derived from wood cellulose, produced sustainably. It is soft, lightweight and wrinkle resistant.

These organic fabrics offer an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fabrics, while providing similar or even greater comfort and durability characteristics.

Discovering organic labels for fabric:

To certify the organic quality of a fabric, refer to the following labels:

Demeter Label : Requiring that the raw material be harvested by hand on a Demeter-certified farm, this label guarantees environmentally friendly production, even in the case of mechanization.

Ecocert Label : Focused on the defense of consumers, workers and the environment, this label requires that sanitary products contain at least 70% natural fibers, while promoting respect for labor rights.

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) label : Certifies the organic origin of a fabric, requiring that it be composed of at least 75% organic material. It also guarantees an environmentally friendly production process, prohibiting the use of products harmful to health and the ecosystem.

Oeko-Tex® label : Highlighting the principle of “made in Green” production, this label prohibits the use of toxic chemicals and informs consumers about the sustainability and environmental responsibility of organic fabrics.

Favoring these materials thus contributes to our well-being while preserving the environment.
